Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, the , made a thunderous start to their qualifying campaign with a dominant 70–37 victory over Colombia in France on Wednesday.

From the opening whistle, Nigeria showed their intent, controlling the tempo and locking down defensively at the Astroballe Arena. The African champions led for over 33 minutes, suffocating Colombia’s attack and allowing them just 37 points all game.

The contest briefly looked competitive in the second quarter when Colombia edged ahead by three points. But Nigeria responded immediately. Baskets from and levelled the score at 27–27, before finished a slick layup to hand D’Tigress the lead.

Enabosi delivered a brilliant double-double, recording 10 points and 11 rebounds while also adding five assists in under 24 minutes.

Off the bench, Macaulay was equally lethal, scoring 13 points on five-of-six shooting and grabbing six rebounds in just 14 minutes.

For Colombia, tried to keep her side in the game with six first-half points, but Nigeria’s relentless defence and depth proved overwhelming after the break.

D’Tigress stretched their lead to 68–34 late in the fourth quarter, underlining their dominance. Colombia’s largest lead of the game was just three points, and it came only briefly in the first half.

By the final buzzer, Nigeria had led for 33 minutes and 26 seconds, showcasing the power, discipline, and championship mentality that has made them Africa’s most formidable women’s basketball team.

The emphatic victory sends a clear message to their rivals: D’Tigress have arrived
