Super Eagles and Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen has opened up about the emotional ordeal he faced during the COVID-19 pandemic, revealing how he discovered the "dark side of football" after being unable to return to Nigeria as his father's health deteriorated. Osimhen's father, Patrick, passed away in May 2020 at the age of 80, and the striker was stuck in France, unable to attend the funeral due to travel restrictions.

In an emotional account, Osimhen recalled feeling devastated and guilty about not being able to be with his family during his father's final moments. He even considered quitting football, feeling that the business side of the sport was more important than his personal well-being. Osimhen's story highlights the challenges footballers face, especially during difficult times.
