Super Eagles boss has broken his silence over his controversial new contract terms, insisting he is not blackmailing the — and definitely not plotting an exit.
After a leaked document revealed he wants his monthly pay raised from $50,000 to $130,000, rumours exploded that Chelle was ready to jump ship to or another African national team following Nigeria’s bronze medal at the .
But Chelle says the story has been twisted.
“I never threatened to leave. I am still Nigeria’s coach and still working on the next squad,” he said.
He explained that the bigger salary isn’t about luxury — it’s about survival on the job.
“In Africa, I pay my technical staff myself. These demands are to make sure I can work properly,” he added.
The Franco-Malian coach also addressed the Marseille links, admitting his agents made contact — but swearing he never pushed for the move.
Meanwhile, his leaked 19 demands — including a private SUV, secure housing, office equipment, family travel tickets and full control over team selection — have sparked intense debate about whether the Super Eagles boss is overreaching… or simply asking for professional standards.
